GoCamp Partners with Seeker to Launch the VanLife Adventure Trail Challenge

GoCamp, the award-winning boutique campervan rental service, has teamed up with Seeker to launch the VanLife Adventure Trail. This check-in challenge is designed to enhance the campervan experience through a structured, gamified approach, leveraging Seeker’s digital passport technology, Explore.

GoCamp: Making Camping Easy

Since its inception in 2017, GoCamp has been a prominent player in the campervan rental market, offering a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects renters with campervan owners across the United States.  The platform enables individuals to experience the ever-popular #vanlife on a short-term basis, while providing van owners with an opportunity to monetize their vehicles.

GoCamp’s fleet includes a diverse range of campervans and Class B RVs, from vintage Volkswagen Vanagons to contemporary Mercedes-Benz Sprinters. This curated selection ensures that each rental is distinctive, offering potential buyers the ability to test different models before making a purchase and facilitating a worry-free experience for casual renters as each van comes fully stocked and ready to roll.

Gamifying the Campervan Experience

GoCamp has always been known for it’s concierge services and helpful road trip planning tips for renters. But, this year, they’ve added a new gamified experience to help their renters  — and all campervan users — enjoy their outdoor adventures even more.

The VanLife Adventure Trail Challenge represents a new approach to enhancing the camping experience. Developed in collaboration with Seeker, the challenge encourages participants to engage in outdoor activities through a gamified format.

Spearheading the VanLife Adventure Trail is GoCamp’s Vice President of Growth and Experience, Melissa Kroger, who worked with the team at Seeker to conceptualize and craft this creative experience.

With seven unique categories comprising 21 distinct activities, the challenge is designed to inspire exploration and engagement. Participants who join the Challenge can unlock memorable badges like the Trail Trekker and the Aqua Boondocker for exploring different hiking trails or getting out into the water.

The Adventure Trail encourages campers to see and do more while they’re venturing out in a campervan. But these aren’t all high-octane activities — campers can check-in while stargazing, sitting by a campfire, or catching a sunset. With each check-in, campers post a photo and climb the leaderboard. Campers who unlock just three badges receive a discount code, while those who unlock six badges will save $1,000 on their next GoCamp rental.

Utilizing Explore’s Digital Passport Technology

Explore’s digital passport technology allowed GoCamp to create a challenge that isn’t based on specific physical locations. Challenges like the VanLife Adventure Trail gamify experiences through check-ins, which are often used in geographic locations determined by a destination, festival, or other event where participants must be physically present to play.

GoCamp’s use of Explore uses thematic check-ins instead, allowing campers to visit any campground, any park, and any body of water across the United States while still being able to participate in the VanLife Adventure Trail, similar to a scavenger hunt.

This unique approach highlights the adaptability of Explore’s platform in various contexts, facilitating the gamification of experiences for brands to activate their consumers, whether in-destination or across thematic lines.

Additionally, Explore’s photo check-in capabilities add a “fun factor” to the experience for participants, while collecting valuable UGC for GoCamp that can be used across their marketing channels. The Leaderboard and Activity Feed further enhance the experience with gamification elements to boost engagement and build community.
